Obama's Prize
Folks,

Obama "humbled" to win Nobel Peace Prize.

You gotta be kidding me! No, really? For what?

Actually, Obama's being awarded the Noble Peace Prize is a perfect symbol for both his Presidency and for his life in general.

All Obama does is smile a lot, speak some sweet sounding words,
make a buncha promises, and break almost every one of those promises he can. Then he stands back and lets folks who are desperate to worship him for that to get down on their knees so that they may properly gush their adulation.

The guy hasn't done anything, really, in his bare nine months in office. At least in previous years the Noble Peace Prize Committee would have the decency to wait a couple of years for their subject to have been around before handing out the laurel.

And bear in mind that, if the Nobel Peace Prize Committee adhered to its own rules and process, then Obama had to have been nominated for this prize no later than February of this year. Nominated when he hadn't even been in office for an entire month.

That gives us ample reason to believe that this nomination is more a case of Obama's being "not-Bush" than anything else. Or perhaps it's that those fine folks up there in Scandinavia were embarrassed by their brethren in Copenhagen sending Obama away empty handed in his Chicago Olympic hosting bid efforts.  And thus the Nobel is being awarded to Obama as sort a "consolation prize."

Then again, when you think about it, this could also well be a plot. A plot to defame and discredit our Dear Leader. No, really, think about it. Even the mere fact that he was nominated is now going to be used as a political weapon against Obama and it's going to be one he can't hide from. This will be a club that he'll be bludgeoned with for years to come (hopefully not more than three years, thank you very much) and thus there has to be some nefarious reason why Obama was nominated now.

Karl Rove.

That's right, Karl Rove. THE Rove. This is his doing. That man has loosed his agents to twist the Noble Peace Prize Committee into choosing Obama for this year's accolade. There can be no other explanation for it. Hell, this has got THE Rove's fingerprints all over it. Damn, but that man is insidious! Is there no end to his perfidy?

Robin,

Hello there! Nice list of "kept" promises. You'll note though, how superfluous most of those "kept" ones are. Aside from being full of essentially meaningless gestures, they're also full of expansions of the Federal government into even more aspects of our private lives and just enlarging the government in general. But then, what else to expect from such an individual as Obama?

And then there's this part of the list - the promises broken:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/rulings/promise-broken/

Ah, but that entire site is biased, isn't it?

Let's see now...

The Detention Facility at Guantanamo Bay is still open for business and shows no sign of closing. So much for that promise.

US interrogators are still authorized to us torture on terrorist suspects. So much for that promise.

Oh, and about that "end war in Iraq" promise, odd but I get the impression that we're still in Iraq. That our military forces are still there. That they're still fighting and killing any jihadist that stands out to them. That doesn't seen very much "ended" to me...

Joe,

Of what value honors unearned?

Of what character he who accepts such honors?

Madoc,
Addressing your points in reverse order: It doesn't saying anything bad about his character, as they are barbarian honors, and hence known by all Americans to be worthless. There is no shame in accepting such, as it supports the polite legal fiction that we are not absentmindedly measuring their necks for the chopping block. After all, they may someday give us cause to butcher them, but talking about it might spook 'em into doing something unfortunate. Dead foreigners cannot, after all, exchange goods, services and currency with us.

As for having earned them, they are no more than America is due. As our elected representative, the President of the United States can accept tribute on the behalf of the Constitution from the Barbarians. While the Nobel Peace Prize is an inadequate token in of itself, it is still a good start.

So, obviously, President Obama is wise and majestic in responding to this the way he does. Really, he deserves honorary degrees from every major foreign university. He clearly outclasses in every category, every person who is neither a natural born nor a naturalized citizen of the United States of America. Is there no end to his greatness?
